Fibromyalgia

Massage has been clinically proven to help reduce the pain, stiffness, and tender points most often associated with Fibromyalgia. The most commonly accepted reason is that massage helps reset the Central Nervous System and enhances the production of certain pain blockers, including endorphins, serotonin, and norepinephrine. These hormones work to counteract pain signals conducted by the brain, which explains why massage offers such dramatic pain relief.

Fibromyalgia is often associated with high-stress levels, and massage is a great stress reliever! Getting a person out of the parasympathetic nervous system, or “fight or flight” state, encourages the mind and body to relax and return to a calmer state. When this happens, pain almost always dissipates. To be clear, I am not stating that I or any other Massage Therapist can cure Fibromyalgia. What clinical studies and my personal experience have shown is that regular massage and a healthy lifestyle can greatly reduce the pain symptoms of Fibromyalgia.
