Sciatica
There are two types of Sciatica– True and Pseudo. True Sciatica is when the Sciatic Nerve is trapped because of a structural problem such as over-rotated or misaligned hips or vertebrae. This condition is best treated with massage in conjunction with a good Chiropractor. There is a list of several I work with and recommend onn my Complimentary Modalities > Chiropractor page.
Pseudo Sciatica is caused by the Piriformis muscle becoming so tight that it pinches the Sciatic Nerve. This radiates pain from the middle of the buttocks to as far away as the foot. Releasing the tension in the Piriformis and nearby Gluteal Muscles will almost always remedy the situation. Continued stretching and attention to posture will usually prevent recurrence.
